Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026 The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has released the official notification for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement – Schedule I, January 2026. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement to the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak across various postal circles in India.

Branch Postmaster (BPM)
- Overall management of Branch Post Office
- Postal operations, IPPB services, CSC services
- Marketing and promotion of postal products
- Arrangement of accommodation for Branch Office at own cost
Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)
- Mail delivery, sale of stamps and stationery
- IPPB transactions and assistance to BPM
- Marketing of postal products
Dak Sevak
- Mail delivery and mail handling
- Support work in Post Offices / RMS offices
- Assistance in postal and financial services
Salary (TRCA)
- Post/TRCA Pas Scale
- BPM- ₹12,000 – ₹29,380
- ABPM/Dak Sevak- ₹10,000 – ₹24,470
GDS employees are paid Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) with annual increment of 3% and Dearness Allowance as applicable.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 40 Years
Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD categories as per Government norms.
Educational Qualification
- Passed 10th Standard (Secondary School Examination)
- Must have studied Mathematics and English
- Knowledge of local language up to 10th standard
Other Requirements
- Basic knowledge of computers
- Knowledge of cycling
- Adequate means of livelihood
Selection Process
Selection will be done purely on the basis of merit generated from Class 10 marks. No written examination or interview will be conducted.
- Merit list prepared automatically by the system
- Marks calculated up to 4 decimal points
- Tie-breaking based on age and category priority
Application Fee
- ₹100 for General / OBC / EWS Male candidates
- No fee for Female, SC, ST, PwBD and Transgender candidates
Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Document Verification & Engagement
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for physical verification
- Original documents must be produced
- Failure to report will result in cancellation of candidature
